What looked like an unlikely crossover clash has quickly turned into something far more personal.

Eddie Hall’s upcoming fight with Tommy Fury didn’t come out of nowhere – it was sparked by a tense exchange behind the scenes that has now boiled over into a full-blown grudge match.

Set for June 13 in Manchester under the Misfits Boxing banner, the bout has raised eyebrows across the combat sports world. Hall, a former World’s Strongest Man, stepping in with an unbeaten professional boxer always carried intrigue. But the real story lies in how things escalated to this point.

For many fans, the fight seemed surprising given the pair’s previous relationship. Hall and Fury had trained together and even shared content in the past, giving the impression that any interaction between them would remain friendly. That assumption didn’t last long.

According to Hall, the turning point came during a run-in with John Fury, father of both Tyson and Tommy. What began as a conversation about a potential MMA fight with Tyson Fury quickly spiralled into something far more confrontational.

“I bumped in John and I had the conversation about fighting Tyson, I saw he was training MMA,” Hall explained on his YouTube channel.

“I was trying to instigate the fight but it rubbed him up the wrong way. But things got a little heated.”

From there, the tone shifted dramatically.

“Things got a little bit heated. You’re all full of sh*t. You’re just all full of f*ing talk,” he said. “You all walk around like hard men like you’re gonna beat this guy down, beat that guy down, you’ll fight anyone, you’re fighting men. There’s not a lot of action, especially from John.”

It’s the kind of exchange that rarely stays private – and in this case, it has directly fuelled a fight now locked in for the summer.

Rather than backing down, Hall doubled down. And instead of Tyson Fury, it’s Tommy who will now step in to settle the score.

Hall went on: “I’d like to shut your dad up and put you in your place and then maybe I’ll get the Tyson Fury MMA fight. Sorry it has come to this but sometimes men have to settle their differences. This is not a friendly encounter.

“I want to go in there and prove a point.”

Those words make one thing clear: whatever mutual respect may have existed before is no longer part of the equation.

Behind the scenes, tensions have clearly been building, and what many expected to be a light-hearted crossover event now carries genuine animosity. With promotional duties still to ramp up, there’s every chance this rivalry intensifies further in the coming weeks.

From a sporting perspective, both men enter with very different backgrounds.

Hall’s only boxing appearance came in 2022, where he suffered defeat to fellow strongman Hafthor Bjornsson. However, he has since remained active in combat sports through MMA, most recently securing a stoppage victory over Mariusz Pudzianowski.

Fury, meanwhile, has struggled for consistent activity. Since defeating KSI in 2023, he has had just one outing and was due to face Darren Till in 2025 before being pulled from the bout due to safety concerns.

That contrast adds another layer of intrigue. Hall brings raw power and recent fight experience across disciplines, while Fury carries the technical pedigree of a professional boxer—albeit without regular ring time.

But beyond styles and records, this fight has now been defined by something far more compelling: pride.

What started as a casual attempt to line up a future bout with Tyson Fury has instead ignited a feud with the entire Fury camp. And now, with Tommy stepping forward, Hall has the chance to back up every word he’s thrown.

June 13 won’t just be about crossover curiosity anymore. It’s shaping up to be a fight built on ego, tension, and a very public score to settle.
