Ever wanted to see one of the world’s strongest men take on one of the UFC’s deadliest heavyweight fighters? Well you’re in luck.

Eddie Hall, who won the World’s Strongest Man title in 2017, is famous for stepping into the unknown. Since he retired from strongman, Eddie has dipped his toe into all sorts of eclectic sports including bobsleigh, boxing and sumo wrestling – and next on his hit list was MMA (mixed martial arts).

His challenger/coach for the day was Tom Aspinall, who is currently ranked #4 in the UFC heavyweight division. To give a little context, the heavyweight title is currently held by Jon Jones – who is ranked as the best male pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC. In short, Aspinall is in one of the UFC’s toughest weight classes and is a seriously athlete.

Aspinall started out by teaching Hall some MMA basics, including how to low kick effectively, before taking Eddie down onto the mat, where things got a bit more serious. Tom then gave the strongman a grappling masterclass, before showcasing some of his signature moves.

Hall shared his real-life UFC experience with his 2.74 million YouTube subscribers in a video that has already amassed over 1 million views.

At the end of the video, Eddie shows exactly why he’s so loved by his fans – humbly revealing just how talented Aspinall is, and how hard MMA is as a sport: “I mean, it just proves it there, brute strength versus technique, technique wins all day long.”

Eddie then challenged friend and strongman rival Brian Shaw to a MMA fight, something which got the YouTube comments section buzzing.

One fan was totally on board, commenting: “Honestly this is a great idea. Watching YouTubers fight never made sense to me but watching strongmen try technically fighting actually sounds interesting.”

Another couldn’t contain his excitement: “I would 100% buy ANY of those fights! Literally got my heart racing just thinking about it.”

Hall versus Shaw in the octagon, now that sounds spicy – and something that would certainly command an audience. Let’s hope Shaw says yes.
