Eddie Hall is no stranger to pain. He’s pulled trucks, lifted half a tonne off the ground, and slugged it out in an MMA cage and boxing ring. But one of the most agonising moments of his life, at least according to him, had nothing to do with World’s Strongest Man competitions or heavyweight training sessions.
It was a run-in with hair removal cream.

On Monday (September 9), Hall resurfaced a Facebook status he originally posted way back in January 2011 — and it’s quickly doing the rounds for all the wrong (and hilarious) reasons.
“Throwback to the best status ever posted,” the strongman-turned-fighter wrote as he reshared the memory.
The status in question? A public service announcement that still makes readers wince just thinking about it.
The original post read: “Omg, to everyone who thinks hair removal cream on your b*llsack is a good idea! Think again :-(. DO NOT DO IT!……….. Literally taken all the skin of my b*lls can barely move just got em cushioned with a bag of ice. NOT FUNNY.”

Fans couldn’t get enough, with the post racking up laughs and comments from those who were both horrified and impressed at the candour. “Read the user manual next time,” one person advised.
“Seems like someone didn’t read the reviews on Amazon,” another Facebook user joked.
Others also shared their own stories of hair removal mishaps. “I was 14 and didn’t know what Nair was. Too young and dumb to read the label. I got out of the shower looking like I’d just gotten in a fight with a weed wacker,” one fan wrote.
Another poor fella typed: “Did that myself once, left it on for 30 seconds too long, Full on hard scab on the whole area, had to tell people I’d dropped a hot coffee on my lap, never been in so much pain before.”
And if you think this is an exaggeration, consider the source: Hall isn’t exactly a man known for tapping out of pain. The 36-year-old — nicknamed The Beast — famously consumed 10,000–12,000 calories a day during his strongman peak, weighed over 30 stone, and once deadlifted 500kg. He later became Britain’s World’s Strongest Man in 2017 and most recently knocked out fellow strongman-turned-fighter Mariusz Pudzianowski in just 30 seconds on his MMA debut.
So if someone like Hall admits defeat at the hands of a bottle of hair removal cream, you know it’s serious.
Speaking of Hall, he’s currently set to host a new strongman-focused reality TV competition called Battle of the Beasts.
The series will bring together ten elite strength athletes from around the globe, including reigning World’s Strongest Man Rayno Nel, three-time winner Tom Stoltman, Canadian powerhouse Mitchell Hooper, Wales’ Gavin Bilton, American strongmen Evan Singleton and Trey Mitchell, plus British veterans Terry Hollands, Mark Felix, and rising names Paddy Haynes and Flex Lewis.
Filmed in front of a live audience, the show promises a blend of traditional strongman tests with outrageous entertainment challenges — everything from sumo wrestling and belly-flop contests to eating competitions designed to push the limits of strength, stamina, and resilience. The winner will be crowned the first-ever champion of Battle of the Beasts.
But the lesson of the day? You can conquer the world’s heaviest lifts, but some battles just aren’t worth fighting.
