Fitness influencer Joey Swoll has slammed another gym-goer for not only breaking one of the most basic and important gym rules… but also the law.

In a recent clip shared to his X page, Swoll reacted to a now-viral video originally posted by creator @jaminfit2.0, who has over 170,000 followers on Instagram. The original post showed @jaminfit2.0 being confronted at a Lifetime Fitness gym after he was caught recording inside the locker room — something explicitly banned by most fitness chains.

However, rather than apologising and shutting off his camera, the influencer doubled down, mocking the staff member who told him to stop.

He said: “Oh, is there no filming in the locker room? Oh yeah, we’re not filming. We’re taking pictures at 60-frames-a-second.”

He continued sarcastically, adding: “We’re not recording […] No, our pictures have sound. This is the new iPhone 19.”

When challenged further about other gym-goers not wanting to be filmed in the locker room, @jaminfit2.0 tried to justify his actions, claiming: “Yeah, that’s why there’s a wall behind me.”

But Joey Swoll wasn’t having any of it. The self-proclaimed “CEO of Gym Positivity” called out the behaviour as both disrespectful and illegal, sharing his take in a video that’s been widely praised across the fitness community.

Swoll said: “You know, it’s not just the fact that you’re filming in a locker room, which you shouldn’t be doing in the first place. But when the man asks you to stop, which he has every right to do, you get cocky, arrogant, and disrespectful toward him. I would tell you to F off too.”

Sharing a screenshot of Lifetime Fitness’ rules, Swoll then added: “And he’s absolutely right. Let’s take a look at the rules of this gym, Lifetime Fitness. It is absolutely forbidden to take any photo or video in the locker room.”

He didn’t stop there — pointing out that @jaminfit2.0’s page is filled with similar footage.

“And I know you say that there’s a wall behind you, he’s not in the video, but nobody would feel comfortable changing in a locker room with anyone filming or a camera around them,” Swoll said. “And if you look at your social media, it’s literally video after video of you filming yourself in the locker room with people in the background, in their underwear, changing, in a towel. What makes you think these people wanna be filmed then posted to social media?”

Swoll went on to stress the legal implications: “Not to mention, it’s also, illegal. That’s right. It is illegal to film anyone in a locker room, whether they’re nude or not, and post it to social media. So I really hope that this gym, Lifetime Fitness, sees this and kicks your ass out. You need to do better. Mind your own business.”

The video quickly spread across platforms, with fans praising Swoll for standing up for gym etiquette and privacy — two topics he’s become known for addressing in his viral “Gym Positivity” series.

“God, I hate camera use at the gym. Just work out and leave,” one person write, with another X user adding: “The gym should also provide the complainant with the details of the offender for litigious purposes.”

However – unbelievably – there were also people DEFENDING the @jaminfit2.0’s video, with one person writing: “He was in a corner, and no one else was in the video. Lord have mercy.”

Another wrote: “He’s recording himself with nobody behind him, not a big deal.”

Lifetime Fitness, which operates more than 230 gyms across the U.S. and Canada, explicitly bans photography and filming in all locker rooms. Their posted rules classify it as a serious violation of membership policy, designed to protect the privacy and safety of all members.

While @jaminfit2.0’s original post has sparked backlash, he has yet to issue any public apology or response to Swoll’s criticism.

Swoll’s video ends with a familiar message that has become his hallmark: “You need to do better. Mind your own business.”

Remember folks: the locker room is for changing, and never for content for social media.
