Everybody has their own reason for going to the gym.
It’s an incredible environment where every person in there has decided that they want to better themselves and look after their physical health.
For some, it may be about chasing personal goals, for others, it’s about wanting to keep their body fit and active so they can lead a happy, healthy life.
For Becky Cheetham, going to the gym has added incentive, as it enables her to “live life” with her sister, Hannah, again.
Hannah has Cerebral Palsy, which was due to a brain injury at birth, but as the sisters write on their social media, this doesn’t stop her from living life to the extreme.
Due to Hannah’s condition, she requires care from her loved ones, which includes being lifted in and out of her chair – something that Becky wants to ensure that she can do regularly.
So she got to work.
Posting on their joint social media accounts, Becky showed herself training at the gym with writing that explained: “You never know what someone is training for…”
For Becky and Hannah, it’s that they are tackling a 10k together in May, and Becky wants to ensure that she can help Hannah live life to the full and cross that finish line.
As she wrote: “It was never my goal to lose weight. It was my goal to get fit enough to live life with Hannah again. The world isn’t the most accessible, so it’s down to me.”
It seems like training is going well, because Becky said: “It was never my goal to lose weight. It was my goal to get fit enough to live life with Hannah again. The world isn’t the most accessible, so it’s down to me.”
The comments, as you’d expect, are incredibly supportive of the sisters.
One person wrote: “I’ve watched this about 5 times, it’s just magnificent. If that’s not love then I don’t know what is. And Hannah, your smile is so joyous!”
A second person wrote: “When we show up for ourselves first, we can show up BIG for others.”
A third added: “Her smile is infectious and it’s lovely to see you both enjoying life together!”
Becky and Hannah really are an incredible team, and it just shows how everyone at the gym has their own story!
