Tommy Fury’s long-awaited return to the ring came with more than just punches on Saturday night, as the boxer used his fight with Eddie Hall to finally reveal the name of his newborn son.
Fans had spent all week speculating after hints emerged that Fury would use the high-profile crossover clash in Manchester to make the announcement — and that’s exactly what happened.
The reveal came in the most Tommy Fury way possible.
As he stepped through the ropes for his showdown with Hall, Fury had his baby boy’s name stitched across his jacket, confirming to the packed AO Arena crowd that his son is called Midas.
The moment capped what Fury had already described as one of the biggest weeks of his life.
Just days before headlining in his hometown, Fury and fiancée Molly-Mae Hague welcomed their second child together, adding a baby boy to their growing family alongside daughter Bambi.
Speaking before fight night, Fury had teased the reveal while admitting the public interest around the name had almost overshadowed the fight itself.
“All will be revealed on Saturday night. It I’m looking forward to it,” he told the Mirror. “I think I’ve asked I’ve been asked more about the name than the actual fight. It’s going to be an entertaining night on Saturday and all will be revealed. It’s been a huge week for me and it can’t be described anything other as a huge blessing.”
The timing added another emotional layer to what was already one of the strangest events on the crossover boxing calendar.
Fury had spent the previous 10 weeks away from his family as he prepared for the huge physical challenge of facing Hall.
But despite the demands of camp, Fury made it clear his focus was always split between the ring and home life.
“I’ve had a smile on my on my face all week,” he said. “Everything’s gone smoothly; Molly’s happy, everyone’s happy. So it’s just about getting on to fight night, getting that done, and enjoying the summer with the family. That’s what’s on my calendar for the foreseeable. It’s been the best week that you could ever ask for. A beautiful baby boy, and a main event on Saturday night in my hometown. It’s full steam ahead now.”
While Fury was locked in on the job against Hall, he admitted the real hard work would begin once the gloves came off.
“I’ve been there, but at the end of the day, my duties properly start after the fight,” he said. “I’ve got an amazing partner back home, and she understands the job ahead, and I’m focused on that job. I’ll get the job done on Saturday and return home to change some s***ty nappies.”
The birth of his son also marks another major moment for the Fury family name, with father John Fury once again by Tommy’s side on fight night.
And beyond boxing, Fury says his priorities as a dad remain simple.
“I’ve got a boy and a girl now and it’s just unbelievable. I’ll teach them to grow up with manners just like I was taught to grow up with, and to mind your P’s and Q’s,” Fury said.
“I don’t really care what they do for a living, they can do whatever they want. I won’t push them into anything. I’ll be very supportive of what they want to do, and as long as they’re respectful kids, that’s all a parent can really ask for.”
For Fury, Saturday night was always about more than just business.
It was about family, legacy, and marking one of the biggest moments of his life in front of his hometown crowd.
And now, with Midas Fury finally revealed to the world, it’s a night he’s unlikely to forget anytime soon.
