What started as a chance meeting at a film premiere may have ended up becoming one of the most important conversations of Big John Fisher’s life.
For months now, the larger-than-life father of heavyweight boxer Johnny Fisher has been quietly transforming his health — and now he’s shown just how far he’s come.
In a fresh update shared on Instagram, John Fisher, better known to millions simply as ‘Big John’, revealed the dramatic impact that former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall has had on his journey.
And by the sound of it, Hall didn’t sugar-coat a thing.
Reflecting on where it all started, Big John admitted: “Didn’t realise how overweight I had become until I bumped into Eddie Hall at a film premiere.
“He said to me John if you don’t change your lifestyle you will be dead in 5 years.”
It’s the kind of blunt honesty Hall has built his career on — and for Fisher, it clearly landed.
“When Eddie talks you listen,” Big John wrote.
That simple message has now become the backbone of a transformation that has gathered serious momentum over the past nine months.
Back in June, Fisher had already revealed he was deep into the process, sharing that he had dropped 36kg (79lbs) after beginning at around 475lbs.
At the time, he explained Hall’s influence had come after he’d already made a strong start on his own, having lost 20kg before the former Strongman champion stepped in.
“9 months in, I have now lost 36kg [79lbs],” he wrote on X.
“[Eddie Hall] saw me and told me I would be dead in 5 years if I didn’t change, and he saw me after I already lost 20kg.
“Under his guidance, I’m getting there just with simple basic instruction. I still have a Chinese, but just roasted meats now.”
That theme of simplicity is something Fisher has doubled down on again in his latest post.
Rather than overcomplicating things, his current routine is built around basic habits — the sort that are easy to overlook but hard to stay consistent with.
According to Big John, his current formula looks like this:
Walking.
Fast walking.
Electrolytes.
Fish oil.
Sauna.
A mainly carnivore diet.
Dark chocolate.
Eggs.
“Bosh.”
It’s not flashy. It’s not extreme. But it’s working.
That’s arguably what has made Fisher’s transformation resonate so strongly with fans.
For years, Big John became a cult favourite online through viral family content, gigantic takeaway orders and his unmistakable energy, turning “BOSH!” into one of British boxing’s most recognisable catchphrases.
But behind the humour and food content was a reality he could no longer ignore.
And Hall — who knows exactly what carrying dangerous bodyweight feels like — was perhaps the perfect person to deliver that wake-up call.
At his Strongman peak, Hall weighed close to 440lbs during his reign at the top of the sport, before later reshaping his body for boxing and MMA.
That physical reinvention saw him slim down massively ahead of his long-awaited clash with Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson in 2022, proving that even at the highest level, dramatic change is possible.
It’s that experience Hall now appears to be passing on.
And while Hall’s own sporting future remains in the spotlight, there’s little doubt this may be one of the most meaningful impacts he’s made outside competition.
Because for Big John, this no longer looks like a quick weight cut or social media challenge.
It looks like a genuine lifestyle overhaul.
And perhaps most importantly, one that’s built to last.
For a man whose online identity has long been tied to indulgence, takeaway culture and huge portions, the fact he’s found a sustainable way to keep moving forward may be the biggest win of all.
The transformation is still ongoing.
But if the latest update is anything to go by, Big John is only just getting started.
And as he’s now learned the hard way — when Eddie Hall talks, you listen.
