There are tough arm workouts, and then there’s shifting more than 1.6 tonnes with dumbbell curls in the space of just 60 seconds.
Jason Zerostone has taken the exercise to an entirely different level after officially breaking the Guinness World Record for the most weight lifted by dumbbell curls in one minute.
The American managed an enormous cumulative weight of 1682.28 kg (3,708.8 lbs) during his record-breaking attempt in Stanwood, Washington, United States, on December 3, 2025.
It’s the sort of number that looks ridiculous even before you consider the time limit involved.
Rather than simply completing one enormous lift, Zerostone had to keep working against the clock, repeatedly curling the dumbbells as the total amount of weight lifted continued to climb.
And with just one minute available to him, there was little room to slow down.
Footage accompanying the record shows Zerostone performing the curls during the attempt, putting the sheer physical demands of the challenge into perspective.
Dumbbell curls might be one of the most recognisable exercises in strength training, but trying to accumulate thousands of pounds of lifted weight in only 60 seconds turns a familiar movement into something considerably more punishing.
By the end of the attempt, Zerostone had accumulated a total of 1682.28 kg — equivalent to 3,708.8 lbs — and secured his place in the Guinness World Records in the process.
The achievement was officially recorded in Stanwood, Washington, with Zerostone representing the United States.
While the headline figure is naturally what catches the eye, there was also a bigger motivation behind the record attempt.
According to Guinness World Records, Jason hopes to inspire others to push their limits.
It’s a fitting message given the nature of the challenge.
Record attempts based around a one-minute window leave competitors with a very specific problem: the clock does not care how tired you are getting.
Every second matters, and Zerostone’s final total demonstrates just how much work he managed to squeeze into that tiny window.
By the time the minute was over, he had officially lifted more than 3,700 lbs through dumbbell curls.
For most people, curls are simply another exercise during an arm session.
For Jason Zerostone, they became the movement that earned him a Guinness World Record.
And after accumulating 1682.28 kg in just 60 seconds, he has certainly set a formidable figure for the record books.
