Eddie Hall is a man who is always looking for a new challenge – and he seems to have found himself a pretty big one.
Hall, who won the World’s Strongest Man title in 2017, has been tackling all kinds of sports since his strongman retirement – most recently training with UFC heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall in a YouTube video which has amassed over 1 million views so far.
Now he has driven his fans into a state of frenzy by announcing his very own MMA debut in Qatar, against the current holder of the World’s Strongest Man title.
Taking to Instagram, Hall revealed that he would be taking on Canadian Mitchell Hooper in a mysterious event known as the Finishers Championship. Set to showdown in February 2024, it seems Hall is well and truly in the fight game.
What is the Finishers Championship?
Heading to their website, information on the Finishers Championship is pretty scarce but incredibly intriguing for fight fans.
The only text reads: “Get ready for the fight event you’ve been waiting for. Launching 2024.”
“Top MMA fighters settling the score on unfinished business. 12 match eliminator. $300 million USD prize money. Celebrities. Royalty.”
Who else in taking part?
While the full lineup for the Finishers Championship remains unknown at this stage, Eddie Hall fans were speculating heavily in the comments on his post, with Eddie’s long-time friend and rival Brian Shaw the name on lots of lips.
Shaw recently announced his own foray into the world of MMA, teasing a fight early in 2024. A coincidence? All this talk of settling scores and unfinished business means that fans don’t think so.
Another name mentioned by some was Martyn Ford, a British bodybuilder and actor.
So there we have it, Beast versus Moose, February 2024, a mysterious MMA championship set in Qatar. Could it be any juicier?
