Jake Paul has finally revealed the “major announcement” he teased ahead of his fight with Anthony Joshua — and it’s a move that has fans calling it the ultimate psychological jab at the former heavyweight champion.

Hours prior, the 28-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer had teased a major announcement with fans – with some people speculating that Paul was going to drop out of the fight with an alleged injury.

However, that was not the case. The fight is still going ahead… with Paul’s announcement reportedly making it “fair”.

Taking to social media, Paul announced that he had signed Caroline Dubois, the WBC lightweight world champion — and sister of Daniel Dubois, the man who brutally knocked out Joshua at Wembley Stadium last year.

The announcement was made on social media just days after Paul hinted at an injury scare and fuelled speculation that the fight might be postponed. Instead, the “Problem Child” confirmed that not only is the December 19 bout at Miami’s Kaseya Center still on, but he’s also added one of Britain’s brightest boxing stars to his Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) roster.

“All I want is a fair fight. Even the odds. Joshua brought in Usyk. So only right I bring in Dubois. Had to be done,” Paul wrote.

The move instantly lit up social media — with fans quick to point out that Paul signing the sister of the man who last defeated Joshua was no coincidence. For some, it’s a tactical masterstroke; for others, a pure act of trolling.

“You dummies thought I was going to pull out of the fight? Ridiculous,” Paul added. “I’m just building. 5 years in. Creating a roster of the best. Welcome to MVP, Miss Dubois.”

    Caroline Dubois Joins The Card

At just 23 years old, Caroline Dubois is one of the fastest-rising stars in women’s boxing. A 2020 Olympian and current WBC lightweight world champion, she boasts an undefeated record — 11 wins, five by knockout, and one no contest — and will defend her belt on the Joshua vs. Paul undercard against Italy’s Camila Panatta.

“Signing with MVP is the next step in my career,” Dubois said. “I’m proud to be under their roster, and I believe they will be able to help me on my quest for greatness. The mission must be to become the face of women’s boxing.”

In a follow-up post, Dubois doubled down on her intent: “I’m at the top for a reason — the work, the discipline, the mindset. And now with MVP behind me, the world is about to see a whole new level.”

For Paul, the move serves multiple purposes: it strengthens his promotion’s roster, elevates the undercard, and — perhaps most pointedly — adds a Dubois to the same fight night as Joshua’s comeback bout.

    Mind Games Before Miami

Anthony Joshua, 36, will step into the ring for the first time since his crushing knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in 2024. That loss, widely considered one of the most shocking moments in recent British boxing history, left Joshua needing a statement performance to reassert himself among the elite.

By bringing Caroline Dubois into his corner — both literally and symbolically — Paul has found a clever way to remind Joshua, and the public, of that painful night at Wembley.

Fans have been quick to frame the signing as “a psychological uppercut.” One viral post on X (formerly Twitter) read: “Jake Paul really just signed Daniel Dubois’ sister ahead of fighting AJ. The trolling is elite.”

Paul insists his intention is to make the playing field even. After facing criticism for his opponent choices, the American has continually defended his boxing credentials, reminding fans that he’s now beaten Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, and even Mike Tyson.

The fight against Joshua, however, is by far the biggest test of his career — and the most high-stakes. Scheduled for eight three-minute rounds with 10oz gloves, the bout will headline a Netflix broadcast that’s already tipped to become one of the platform’s most-watched live sporting events.

The undercard is stacked with familiar faces, including a clash between Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley, both of whom have previously lost to Paul.

Meanwhile, Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn have repeatedly dismissed rumours that the fight is “fixed” or “scripted.”

“There is no stipulation in the contract where I have to take it easy on him,” Joshua told TMZ Sports.
“People can say what they want, but when you get in that ring, it’s real. You’ll see for yourself.”

Hearn was equally blunt: “If you think this is scripted, wait till you see what happens on December 19, because you will go, ‘F**k me.’ One thing’s for sure — that weren’t scripted.”

Nevertheless, by signing Caroline Dubois — and positioning her on the same card as the man her brother flattened — Jake Paul has turned his “major announcement” into a storyline that runs deeper than just the main event.

It’s not just business; it’s psychological warfare.
