Tommy Fury Reveals His Next Career Move Once He Retires From Boxing

Tommy Fury has never been one to follow a quiet path — and now, the 26-year-old Brit has revealed a post-boxing plan that’s as bold as any career move in combat sports.

Speaking on Spencer Matthews’ Untapped podcast, the unbeaten cruiserweight (11-0, 4 KOs) announced his next chapter will see him swap the gloves for the dumbbells — and his target weight is huge.

“I’m going to go into bodybuilding. I’m going 300lb, 250lb. I want to be as big as I can get. I’m going to document the full thing, boxer to bodybuilder,” Fury said. “I’ve got the perfect frame for it. I’ve got the wide shoulders, a smaller waist, but I’ve never been able to pursue it because of the boxing. Because you can’t bodybuild and box at the same time because this doesn’t work.

“But I just want to see where I can take it. I think if you put 36 kilos on of mostly muscle, yeah, that would be a sight to behold. And I’m going to do it. I’m really going to do it. Like this is what’s on the cards for me.”

It’s a typically confident declaration from a fighter who’s always been comfortable under the spotlight — and, given his background, it’s not hard to imagine Fury thriving in front of the camera again as he documents the transformation from “boxer to bodybuilder.”

Fury later doubled down on the plan in a Q&A session with fans shared to his Instagram Stories on November 11, confirming that bodybuilding is still firmly on his radar once he hangs up the gloves.

And the announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans, as Fury has previously shared a glowing post about training with bodybuilding legend Ronnie Coleman.

Fury captioned the post: “Today I got to train with an idol of mine. I’ve admired and looked up to this man since being a boy. 16 year old me would never have believed that one day we’d be smashing out a weights session together… I’m not sure this will ever feel real. @ronniecoleman8 I love you brother!”

In the same Q&A, Fury also offered an encouraging update on his fitness, revealing that a recurring hand injury has finally healed and that he’s hoping to return to the ring before the end of the year.

Unfinished Business With Jake Paul

Of course, no conversation about Tommy Fury’s next steps is complete without mentioning his old rival Jake Paul — the man Fury handed his only professional boxing defeat back in February 2023.

Paul recently listed Fury among his “hit list” opponents, but despite the social media back-and-forth, the long-discussed rematch appears to have stalled once again.

According to Tommy’s father and trainer John Fury, talks have repeatedly broken down because of money.

“Well, [the rematch] should have happened six months ago, we’ve been trying to put this together now for nearly a year. But, unfortunately, [Paul’s team] are the ones putting the breaks on things by being greedy. So we won’t sign the contract. They want most of the money […] we’re not being treated fair by them. So, I’ve given them my number, it’s a ‘yay’ or a ‘nay’ thing. Either take it or leave it. But it’s not us putting the deal up, it’s them,” John said during the Q&A.

Those claims were echoed this week by Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, who told ESPN: “Unfortunately, the only reason it hasn’t happened is because of business… What they are asking for just doesn’t make any rational sense to me. But, for me, that is the fight I want the most for Jake.”

So while the boxing world waits to see if the rematch can be revived, Fury himself seems focused on his own goals — inside and outside of the ring.

For a man who’s been in combat sports since the age of 15, the idea of chasing a new physical peak makes sense. Fighting is in his DNA — his older half-brother Tyson Fury is a two-time heavyweight world champion, and his father John is a former professional boxer — but Tommy’s interests have always stretched beyond the ring.

A former Love Island star with lucrative sponsorships and a young family with fiancée Molly-Mae Hague, Fury’s career has balanced sport and celebrity from the very start. Now, with an 11-0 record and a growing fanbase outside of boxing, a move into bodybuilding could be another way to stay in the spotlight while exploring life beyond the punishing grind of fight camps.

Standing 6ft tall with an 80-inch reach, Fury already boasts the kind of athletic frame that lends itself to muscle growth. His most recent fight, a unanimous decision win over Kenan Hanjalic in May 2025, saw him bulk up to 208lbs — 26lbs heavier than he was against KSI in 2023 — a sign that his fascination with size and strength is already shaping his physical evolution.

For now, Fury’s focus remains on getting back in the ring before year’s end. But when that day comes where boxing gloves give way to barbells, he’s made one thing clear: this won’t be a half-hearted experiment.

He’s going all in.

“I’m really going to do it,” Fury said. “Like this is what’s on the cards for me.”
