It was supposed to be Jake Paul’s biggest night in boxing — and despite the loss, it probably was.
However, the evening certainly didn’t go as Jake expected; with his brother Logan shouting in vain and the YouTuber-turned-fighter leaving the arena with a double broken jaw.
Anthony Joshua dismantled Paul in Miami’s Kaseya Center on Friday night, sealing a ruthless sixth-round knockout that reminded everyone why he’s a two-time heavyweight champion.
The fight, broadcast live on Netflix and scheduled for eight rounds, never looked close. Paul was floored multiple times before failing to beat the referee’s count.
Joshua’s victory – coming off his loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley last September – extended his record to 29 wins in 33 fights. And the 36-year-old wasted no time looking ahead — his sights are firmly on an all-British showdown with Tyson Fury next year, a fight boxing fans have wanted for years.
But before Joshua finished the job, one ringside moment went viral.
Footage showed brother Logan Paul — a star in the WWE ring — taunting Joshua from his brother’s corner between rounds.
Trying to rattle the former heavyweight champ, Logan was caught on camera shouting to AJ: “What are you going to do? You lost every single round.”
The heckle, though, didn’t age well. Joshua kept his composure and delivered a thunderous right hand that ended the bout in the sixth.
For Jake Paul, 28, it marked the second loss of his professional career after his 2023 defeat to Tommy Fury.
Joshua was quick to make light of the brutal KO, sharing a clip of the blow to his Instagram page, along with the caption: “Netflix and chill.”
As well as the humbling loss, Paul suffered a double broken jaw that required surgery at Miami University Hospital.
“Just got out of surgery,” Paul wrote on X. “Everything went smooth. Thanks for all the love. Lots of pain and stiffness. Gotta eat liquids for 7 days. S/o to the amazing team at Miami University hospital. Everyone was so gracious and caring.”
Hours after the fight, Paul posted an X-ray of his fractured jaw alongside a typically defiant caption:
“Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days.”
He even predicted the injury before leaving the venue. Between rounds, cameras caught him saying: “I think my jaw is broken, by the way. It’s definitely broke. But that was a nice little a**-whooping from one of the best to ever do it.”
Despite being heavily outweighed and outsized — Joshua had a 27-pound advantage and five inches in height — Paul managed to make it to the sixth round. That earned him a nod of respect from his opponent.
“As we saw tonight, Jake has spirit,” Joshua said. “He has some heart and I take my hat off to him.”
Others in the boxing world, as well as many viewers, also gave Paul his flowers, including Chris Eubank Jr, who wrote on Facebook: “Regardless of the outcome, Jake Paul got into the ring with an Olympic gold medalist & former heavyweight world champion & tried his best until the very end. You have to give that man his respect now… he’s done what most would never & he didn’t give up. Well done Jake.”
Paul, now 12–2 as a professional (his other loss coming at the fists of Tommy Fury), remains determined to continue his unlikely boxing journey. Speaking to Ariel Helwani after surgery, he said: “I love this s**t and I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt. We will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight. I’m going for the cruiserweight world title.”
Meanwhile, Logan Paul’s night was no better. His ringside theatrics couldn’t save his brother from one of boxing’s most clinical finishers — and his “you lost every single round” jibe will now live on as a meme rather than motivation.
