Arnold Schwarzenegger Calls Shaky Posing At The 2026 Arnold Classic ‘Inexcusable’

The dust may have settled in Columbus, but the conversation around the 2026 Arnold Classic is far from over.

In a contest that delivered one of the most competitive line-ups in recent memory, it was Chinedu Andrew “Jacked” Obiekea who ultimately walked away with the title. His victory came after an intense battle on stage, edging out a resurgent Nick Walker by just five points.

While the bodybuilding world continues to debate the result, the man whose name is attached to the event — Arnold Schwarzenegger — has made his stance on the outcome crystal clear.

For Schwarzenegger, the deciding factor wasn’t simply size, conditioning, or muscle density.

It was presentation. And in particular, posing.

Speaking during the athletes’ seminar following the show on March 8, Schwarzenegger delivered a blunt message about what he expects from competitors who reach one of bodybuilding’s most prestigious stages, cited by FitnessVolt.

“I’ve been saying this for years to guys. There was still yesterday a bodybuilder onstage competing with you guys that was shaking during the posing. That’s inexcusable. There is no shaking. When you get to this stage, there is no shaking,” he said.

The seven-time Mr. Olympia winner has long emphasised that posing is more than a finishing touch. In his view, it is the very skill that separates elite competitors from the rest.

Standing on the Arnold Classic stage, he argued, should mean an athlete has already done every necessary hour of preparation — including mastering their presentation.

To illustrate his point, Schwarzenegger compared bodybuilding to other elite sports where composure under pressure is non-negotiable.

“Because this is the top stage, imagine you go to the Olympics, and you watch those figure skaters and all of a sudden they are shaking before they are skating… no. You are calm because you have done your work. This is what we saw yesterday. The work that you put in, an hour and a half of posing? That shows,” he said.

Those comments came as praise for Jacked, whose performance throughout the contest drew consistent attention from judges and fans.

While many expected former Mr. Olympia Hadi Choopan to push for the title, it was Walker who emerged as the biggest threat. “The Mutant” arrived in Columbus with what many considered the best package of his career, including the most dominant leg development in the entire line-up.

Yet even with that physical presence, Schwarzenegger believes the finer details ultimately determined the winner.

According to the Austrian icon, Jacked’s ability to remain composed throughout the contest stood out immediately.

“You were never ever out of breath. I never saw your stomach going in and out. Oh my God, I cannot catch my breath. Why? Because you were ready.”

That control, Schwarzenegger explained, is exactly what judges want to see at the highest level of the sport.

Bodybuilding may revolve around muscle, but showcasing that muscle effectively is an art form in itself — one that Jacked executed better than anyone else on the night.

“It’s all about presentation. Everything is about presentation. This is why we have now a new winner at the Arnold Classic and because of his great, great posing. That’s what was common that everyone said, his posing. He outposed all the rest of them and this is what it’s all about,” Schwarzenegger explained.

The victory marks another major milestone for Jacked, whose rise through the IFBB Pro ranks has been rapid and increasingly hard to ignore. Winning the Arnold Classic instantly places him among the elite contenders in the sport.

And he isn’t slowing down.

The Nigerian bodybuilder has already confirmed his next move — a trip to the UK for the upcoming Arnold Classic UK in Birmingham.

That appearance could set up another stacked showdown. Choopan has reserved a place on the roster for the event, though it remains uncertain whether he will ultimately step on stage.

If he does, fans may get the clash many expected in Columbus.

For Schwarzenegger, however, the takeaway from this year’s competition is already firmly decided. At the Arnold Classic — and at any world-class bodybuilding contest — preparation must extend far beyond the gym.

The physique might bring an athlete to the stage. But posing, as he made clear, is what wins the show.
