Scrolling through health advice online can feel like stepping into a never-ending debate. One post claims supplements are essential. Another says they’re pointless if you already eat well.
So rather than arguing about it, one content creator decided to test the theory himself.
A YouTuber known as Tech Workplace documented a 30-day experiment to see whether taking multivitamins would actually change anything about his health or appearance. The plan was simple: take the supplements daily for a month, track any differences, and compare the results from day one to day 30.
Multivitamins are among the most widely used supplements in the world. Usually taken in pill form, their main purpose is to fill nutritional gaps in a person’s diet. For people who struggle to get enough essential nutrients through food alone, they’re designed to ensure the body receives the vitamins and minerals it needs.
Some people take them due to dietary restrictions, while others rely on them as they age or if their bodies struggle to absorb certain nutrients. Many also believe multivitamins can support immune health, strengthen bones, and even improve skin repair.
But the big question remains — do they actually make a noticeable difference?
That’s what the YouTuber wanted to find out.
He explained that before starting the experiment, he had been feeling low on energy and had begun noticing some physical symptoms he suspected might be linked to nutrient deficiencies.
Among the issues he highlighted were dark circles forming under his eyes and dryness developing on his scalp.
With those concerns in mind, he decided to begin a month-long routine of taking multivitamins to see whether anything would change.
Day one was fairly uneventful.
After taking his first pill, he admitted he didn’t notice any immediate transformation. Still, he pointed out that supplements don’t typically work overnight.
According to him, “you can feel differences within a couple of hours or one day”, though he also acknowledged that it usually takes longer for results to appear. In fact, experts at Boots suggest it can take anywhere from one to three months before the full effects of supplements are noticeable.
He also made it clear that multivitamins aren’t a replacement for a healthy diet.
Instead, he noted that most people can obtain the essential nutrients they need from regular food, with supplements mainly useful for those who have dietary gaps.
By day eight, things had started to feel a little different.
While the visual changes he hoped for hadn’t appeared yet, he did notice a shift in his overall energy levels.
“I wish there were a little bit more of a visible physical change. I still have these dark spots around my eyes, but I do feel more energised, so that’s pretty great,” he said.
Around the same time, he received results from a blood test which revealed that he had deficiencies in vitamin D and vitamin B6 — something he suspected might be linked to his vegan diet.
“I hope these levels will rise as I continue to take my vitamins and start to feel better over the next couple of days,” he said.
By the time the experiment reached day 20, the changes he felt were becoming more noticeable — particularly when it came to his lifestyle and activity levels.
“I definitely feel like I have more energy. I’ve really been enjoying exercising lately, and I’ve gone rock climbing a couple of times, which has been really great and a lot of fun,” the tech YouTuber revealed.
Alongside the increase in energy, he said he had also “started to notice” a few physical improvements.
Still, the real test came at the end of the month.
On day 30, he placed footage of himself from the beginning of the experiment next to his current appearance to compare the two.
The results were more subtle than some people might expect.
“Obviously, my beard is a little bit longer here, but physically, I don’t see that many changes. I still have these dark spots around my eyes. However, the flakiness on my scalp is completely gone,” he revealed.
That improvement, however, might not have been caused by multivitamins alone.
During the experiment, he also began taking omega-3 supplements to address the scalp issue.
“It seems like that combination helped remedy the problem,” he explained.
While the visual differences weren’t dramatic, the biggest change appeared to be how he felt.
His energy levels throughout the month noticeably increased, which allowed him to exercise more regularly and stay active.
Even so, he was careful not to jump to conclusions about what caused the improvement.
He said: “Of course, I can’t say for sure that this is entirely because of the multivitamins, but I genuinely have much more energy to do my exercises every day.”
Despite the relatively modest before-and-after results, the experiment still convinced him that the supplements were worth continuing — at least for his own lifestyle and dietary needs.
By the end of the video, he confirmed that he plans to keep taking multivitamins moving forward.
However, he avoided recommending any specific brand, instead leaving viewers to decide for themselves whether the supplements might be useful for their own routines.
