Strongman legend Nick Best has shared an update from hospital after successfully undergoing hip surgery, telling fans: “It is all about recovery now.”
The 57-year-old Strongman icon first revealed he was preparing for surgery in a post shared from his hospital bed, where he explained the significance of the operation after years of putting his body through the demands of elite-level strength competition.
“Hip surgery day is here,” Best wrote. “Big day. A new challenge, a new chapter, and another step forward. I’ve pushed these hips for years under some serious weight, and now it’s time to get fixed up and come back stronger. Appreciate all the support from everyone. Time to get to work on recovery.”
The image showed Best lying in a hospital bed, giving a thumbs up ahead of the procedure, with support quickly pouring in from across the strength world.
Fellow strongman Jerry Pritchett commented: “Strong recovery brother!!”
A fan wrote: “Good luck on a very successful surgery Nick!”
While another supporter added: “Wishing you a speedy recovery buddy.”
Now, following the successful operation, Best has reassured fans with a short but positive update from hospital, posting on his Instagram story: “It is all about recovery now.”
For longtime followers of the sport, it is hardly surprising that years of competition have taken a toll physically.
Nick Best is widely regarded as one of the most respected figures in modern Strongman and has spent decades competing against some of the biggest names the sport has ever seen.
Known for his longevity, consistency, and immense deadlifting ability, Best became a fan favourite through appearances at the World’s Strongest Man competition as well as the Arnold Strongman Classic.
Among his most notable achievements was winning the Masters World’s Strongest Man title in 2016. He also competed in multiple World’s Strongest Man finals throughout his career, often going head-to-head with athletes decades younger than himself.

Best became especially admired within the sport for continuing to perform at an elite level well into his 40s and 50s — something rarely seen in Strongman, given the brutal physical demands involved.
Away from competition, he gained even wider recognition through the hit documentary Born Strong, which followed several of the sport’s biggest personalities, including Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, and Hafthor Bjornsson. Best’s personality and professionalism made him one of the standout figures from the film.
We wish Nick all the best in his recovery.
