Pull-ups are difficult enough without adding anything extra to the equation, but one fitness content creator has left social media seriously impressed after taking on the exercise from her wheelchair.
Abril Alfaro shared a video on Instagram showing her tackling pull-ups in the gym, with the clip quickly attracting attention for both her strength and determination.
The video, captioned on-screen with “POV: doing pull-ups with the wheelchair,” begins with Alfaro preparing herself for the challenge.
There appears to be some uncertainty over whether she will be able to complete the exercise, but she is not attempting it without a strong support system around her.
Four women step in to help lift and position her wheelchair beneath the pull-up bar. Once everything is in place, they move away, leaving Alfaro to take control of the exercise herself.
She reaches up, grips the bar and starts performing pull-ups while remaining seated in her wheelchair.
It is a seriously demanding feat, with Alfaro not only having to lift her own body weight but also contend with the additional weight of the wheelchair.
And she already has another target in her sights.
“My goal is to reach 10 before the year ends.”
Her efforts clearly struck a chord with viewers, who flooded the comments with praise after watching the clip.
“Congratulations on your discipline; you are a superwoman,” one person wrote.
Others were just as impressed by the group of women helping Alfaro get into position before allowing her to complete the challenge independently.
“All the girls lifting you up.”
Plenty of the reaction, however, centred on the sheer physical difficulty of what Alfaro was doing.
“What a freakin beast!” one viewer commented, while another added: “Amazing work! You got this.”
One person also spotted another detail which made the feat even more impressive, writing: “Wide grip too? Incredible!”
The additional load provided by the wheelchair was not lost on viewers either.
“Lifting the wheelchair additionally to your own body weight is absolutely mind-blowing,” another person said.
The video ultimately captures two sides of the challenge: the physical strength required to perform the pull-ups and the support needed to make the exercise accessible in the first place.
Once Alfaro is positioned at the bar, though, the work is entirely hers.
And with her target of 10 pull-ups now publicly declared, plenty of people are backing her to get there.
“You go girl!” one viewer wrote.
Another offered a fitting response to the viral display of strength: “You dropped this, Queen.”
