Most newlyweds celebrate their wedding with a first dance. Fitness enthusiasts James and Phoebe Thompson decided to mark theirs with something a little heavier.

The bride and groom celebrated tying the knot by performing a huge 600lbs couples deadlift together at Kingdom Strength Studio.

Footage from the unusual wedding-day lift shows Phoebe still wearing her white wedding dress and veil as she steps up to the bar alongside James, who remains dressed for the occasion in black.

With their wedding guests gathered around them, the pair take their positions before successfully completing the lift together.

Kingdom Strength Studio shared the moment, writing: “Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Thompson!! Celebrating their wedding day with a 600lbs couples deadlift.”

The touching moment was then sealed with a kiss and their guests applauded. And judging by the reaction online, plenty of people appreciated the unconventional celebration.

“Now that’s a strong marriage,” one person joked.

Another loved a small moment between the newlyweds, writing: “The chalked up high five is everything”

Someone else simply declared: “Couple goals.”

The clip even prompted one sceptical viewer to question whether the footage was AI-generated, leading the gym to respond: “Promise you it’s not. We did this in our gym right before the reception in the back.”

Phoebe also shared further photos from their wedding day alongside a message about what the occasion and location meant to her.

She wrote: “Stronger together. We got to celebrate our love at the place where I met God and where God gave me you, I’m forever thankful. I love you MOST!”

For James and Phoebe, then, “stronger together” wasn’t simply a wedding-day message. They quite literally put it to the test.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
