Even four-time World’s Strongest Man Brian Shaw couldn’t lift this one.

In his latest YouTube upload, the retired strongman teamed up with fellow giant Robert Oberst to take on The Colorado Mountain Pie Challenge — a notorious food feat at Beau Jo’s, a Colorado-based pizzeria famous for its towering “Grand Sicilian” pie.

The goal? Eat a 14-pound mountain pizza in under an hour. The reward? A crisp $100 each and matching winners’ t-shirts. Simple. In theory.

This monstrous meal is split evenly between dough and toppings — seven pounds apiece — and has beaten almost every duo that’s dared to try it. Check out the video below to see exactly what goes into this monster meal:

But if anyone could muscle through it, you’d think it’d be two of the biggest men ever to grace the Strongman stage.

Before tucking in, Oberst was quick to manage expectations, admitting that since retirement, his appetite has taken a hit. “My stomach has gotten smaller and I don’t eat as much as I used to,” he said, but added with a grin that he was ready to “bring everything he’s got.”

When the pizza finally hit the table, Oberst had just one word: “Hefty.”

The first few minutes looked promising — huge bites, plenty of laughs — but 30 minutes in, the mood shifted. Both men started to slow down, joking about who was taking the bigger slices as the mountain of crust and toppings loomed ever larger.

With 20 minutes left, the challenge had turned into pure survival. Both Shaw and Oberst began pacing around the restaurant, clearly trying to make room for the massive meal still sitting in front of them. But it was clear: this pizza was winning.

As the final five minutes approached, Shaw kept taking small, determined nibbles while Oberst finally admitted defeat. “Fizzled out,” he groaned, before making a quick exit to the bathroom — disqualifying himself from the challenge and leaving Shaw to soldier on solo.

It didn’t help. With over four huge slices still untouched, Shaw eventually had to call it. No dramatic finish, no celebration — just two battered strongmen staring at the remains of a pizza that had beaten them soundly.

When the final weigh-in came, it was revealed they’d managed only around six pounds of the 14-pound pie. “Everything is spinning, bro,” Oberst said, visibly struggling. Shaw summed it up even more bluntly: “We got destroyed.”

Fans flooded the comments section after watching the pair’s suffering unfold. One viewer wrote: “Certainly makes you appreciate what actual competitive eaters are capable of.” Another suggested: “Should have had BeardMeatsFood as your partner.” A third joked: “I think the yapping got to Brian. He looked genuinely pressed at one point.”

And one summed it up with a cheeky jab: “I didn’t even see Brian eat a full slice. Oberst carried that no question.”

It might not have been their finest hour, but few challenges have ever left Brian Shaw and Robert Oberst looking this defeated — proof that sometimes, even the strongest stomachs have their limits.
