Eddie Hall's son shows off incredible strength

Eddie Hall’s son has shown that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as the youngster showcased his impressive strength in a recent training session with his dad.

Since retiring as a professional Strongman in 2017, Hall’s passion and personality have seen him become a YouTube sensation. His channel currently boasts over 2.3 million subscribers, as he frequently gives fans an insight into his life, including his ongoing journey to staying fit and new ventures.

In a recent video, Hall was joined in the gym by his son, Maximus – who recently celebrated his 11th birthday – for a father-son training session.

“Today I am training with my amazing son. And he’s been training with me now for the best part of a year. He started on his 10th birthday, which was last July,” Hall says in the video. “I thought I’d just like to showcase him a little bit because he’s stuck to the regime, he’s come with me every single day for a year, and we’ve basically picked him up from school we go the shop and then we come straight here and we train for two and a half hours most days.”

And it is clear all that family training has paid off, as Maximus took to the bench to showcase his impressive strength, pressing a remarkable 40kg – a feat quite extraordinary for a child not yet in his teenage years.

Maximus, though struggling to keep steady at times, managed to complete five reps of the hefty weight. Eddie, watching over his son’s performance, encouraged Maximus and corrected his form when needed. “That’s actually ridiculous… that 40kg bench-press…really,” Hall remarked, in awe of his son’s performance.

In a bid to underline just how significant Maximus’s achievement was, Eddie invited his cameraman and 23-year-old adult Jamie to attempt the same weight. Jamie’s struggle to match Maximus’ performance served as a testament to the young boy’s exceptional strength.

“Just to prove a point here, Jamie is 23 years of age and this goes to show, I think most adults cannot bench this kind of weight,” Eddie noted, smiling at the camera.

Maximus did not stop at just bench pressing. In another video, the budding weightlifter demonstrated his capabilities by deadlifting 60kg and proving that strongman genes run in the family.

And although many of Hall’s fans believe Maximus has what it takes to become a “future world champ”, others were more overjoyed to see the incredible bond between the father and son, with one delighted viewer writing: “Eddie just shines of being a proud father! And huge congrats on the new little nugget of gold!”

“There is nothing healthier or more wholesome than a father passing on his knowledge, teaching and encouraging their son,” a second fan commented, with a third adding: “Kid has crazy dedication and one of the best trainers. Truly heartwarming to watch.”

In an interview with The U.S. Sun back in June, dad Eddie admitted that he’s “very passive” about his son’s venture into strength training, adding that it’s not something he wants to “push” on young Maximus.

“At the minute it is just me and [Maximus] in the gym, spending time together, training, keeping him off his Xbox and PC,” the proud dad told the outlet.

Hall also revealed that he doesn’t want other gymgoers approaching his son and putting unnecessary pressure on the youngster.

“I’m actually quite against it when people say in the gym, and someone will come up and go, say to my son, ‘Oh, are you gonna be the next World’s Strongest Man? Are you gonna be the next one to pull five hundred kilos?’

“We’ll just sort of brush it off. And then when I see him on my own, I’m like, ‘Will you, will you, would you mind shutting the f*** up and not saying that to my son please?'”

“Because he puts pressure on him. And I don’t want pressure on my 10-year-old son. It’s f***ing wrong.”

Despite the former World’s Strongest Man saying he’ll never push his son into the world of strongman training, it is clear that his father’s success has inspired Maximus to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Maximus has since launched his own YouTube channel, adopting the nickname of “Beast Junior” and telling his 90,000+ subscribers: “My name is Maximus and I enjoy lifting weights, playing games, and just generally having fun!”

And having fun is what it’s all about. Whether it’s continuing his training or something else entirely, it’s clear Maximus can achieve anything he wants thanks to his dad’s unyielding support.
