Eddie Hall left fellow strongman legend Brian Shaw amused after greeting him in a rather unusual outfit during their latest reunion in the UK.
The former World’s Strongest Man champions have developed a reputation for winding each other up, and their latest meeting was certainly no exception.
Shaw, who won the World’s Strongest Man competition four times, travelled across the Atlantic to visit Hall, but the American had already prepared a surprise before arriving at his friend’s home.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Shaw revealed that he had travelled to the UK wearing a custom black T-shirt featuring an embarrassing photograph of a beardless Hall eating Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
However, when Shaw finally arrived at Hall’s house, it was the British strongman who had an unusual outfit of his own.
Hall emerged wearing a cape, seemingly treating the bizarre accessory as a perfectly normal part of his everyday wardrobe.
And rather than acknowledge how ridiculous the situation looked, the 2017 World’s Strongest Man winner decided to play along.
“This is what I usually wear on a daily basis,” Hall joked when Shaw questioned his appearance.
He then explained that he had been preparing to head out before his friend arrived.
“I was just about to go out, and then you just turned up. I put my cape on,” Hall said.
Shaw appeared entertained by the unusual greeting, although he had another surprise waiting for his fellow strongman.
The American had brought along a matching outfit featuring the same embarrassing photograph that he had proudly displayed throughout his journey.
Presenting Hall with the gift, Shaw revealed that he had arranged for the pair to wear matching clothing.
“You got me matching pajamas,” Hall said as he inspected the outfit.
Despite being the subject of the joke, Hall appeared happy to play along and immediately decided to try on his new clothing.
“I’m going to put it on right now,” he said.
However, the gift came with one small problem.
Shaw had brought Hall a 5XL top, prompting the British strongman to point out that the size was no longer appropriate.
“Not quite a 5XL anymore, Bri,” Hall joked.
Shaw responded by suggesting that he had originally intended to give Hall the clothing when they were both considerably heavier.
“I meant to give it to you a few years ago when we were a little bit bigger,” Shaw said.
But even after changing into his new outfit, Hall wasn’t prepared to abandon his unusual fashion statement.
“Hang on. I need to put my cape back on,” he announced.
The hilarious exchange set the tone for the rest of their reunion, which saw the two strongmen head to the gym for a workout filled with their usual competitive banter.
Hall was particularly keen to get straight into training, insisting they wouldn’t need to return home to collect their usual gym equipment.
Instead, he suggested they simply train in the clothes they were already wearing.
For Shaw, the visit provided another opportunity to spend time with his longtime friend while documenting their antics for his YouTube audience.
And while the American had clearly hoped to embarrass Hall with his custom-made clothing, the British strongman appeared more than capable of stealing the spotlight himself.
After all, it’s not every day that a former World’s Strongest Man greets another former World’s Strongest Man at his front door wearing a cape.
