You don’t win Mr. Olympia eight times unless you have mastered the complex art of the bodybuilding diet.

Serious bodybuilders are consistently required to eat 3,500 calories or more in a day – a staggering amount to the average person. During the peak of his powers however, Ronnie Coleman famously devoured 6,000 calories daily in his bulking phase.

But what does 6,000 calories a day even look like?

Thankfully, fitness influencer Will Tennyson has shown the world exactly what it takes to emulate the great man himself.

Taking to his YouTube channel (which has 2.19 million subscribers) Tennyson took on Coleman’s epic eating regime, which includes 600 grams of protein. He even followed it up with a push-day workout.

Here’s a breakdown of what he ate:

Meal One

  • Egg whites – two cups (cheese added for seasoning).
  • Grits – one cup (blended with two cheese slices).
  • Coffee.
  • Protein – 70.3g.

Meal Two

  • Chicken breast – 20 ounces.
  • Beans – 1.5 cups.
  • Brown rice – 1.5 cups.
  • Cornbread.
  • Protein – 172g.

Meal Three

  • Chicken breast – 16 ounces.
  • Baked potato – one medium.
  • Protein – 143g.

Meal Four

  • Steak.
  • Chicken breast – 5 ounces.
  • Baked potato – one medium.
  • McDonald’s french fries – large.
  • Pink lemonade – one glass.
  • Protein – 109g.

Meal Five

  • Whey Protein Powder – four scoops.
  • Protein – 100g.

“My stomach is rumbling and making noises that I’ve never heard it make before,” said Tennyson before he drank the protein shake.

Shockingly, Tennyson exceeded his normal daily protein intake goal during just the second meal. Commenting on the chicken breast overload, Tennyson shared his thoughts: “I feel he (Coleman) knew he didn’t need all of it but still wanted it.”

While Tennyson managed to eat the entire 6,000 calories – he admitted it would be impossible for him to eat this daily while training.

It’s just too much food for one man, unless you’re Coleman of course.
