For years, fans have watched Brian Shaw do things that barely seem possible.

Atlas stones that look immovable suddenly fly onto platforms. Deadlifts become routine. Entire competitions are dominated by sheer force, precision, and composure. But while the arenas, lights, and titles built the image of one of Strongman’s greatest-ever competitors, they never fully showed what was happening away from the platform.

Now, that story has finally been opened up to the public.

The four-part documentary series STRONGMAN: The Brian Shaw Story has officially arrived on UK and Canadian Amazon Prime as of May 18, giving viewers unprecedented behind-the-scenes access into the life and career of the four-time World’s Strongest Man.

Rather than functioning as a standard sporting retrospective packed with old clips and achievements, the series digs far deeper into the reality of elite-level strength sport. It focuses on the years of sacrifice, discipline, recovery, pressure, and consistency required to remain at the very top of one of the most brutal sports in the world.

From the opening stages of the documentary, viewers are taken through Shaw’s rise from a small-town athlete into one of the defining figures in Strongman history. The series charts the evolution of a competitor whose presence helped shape an entire era of the sport.

But what separates the documentary from traditional sports coverage is the access.

Training footage, recovery sessions, preparation, setbacks, and the quieter moments away from competition all form part of the story. Instead of only showing the finished product on competition day, the documentary spends time examining the relentless routine that made those victories possible in the first place.

“This project means a lot to me because it shows the full picture,” said Brian Shaw. “Not just the wins, but the struggles, the setbacks, and the work that goes in every single day. I hope it inspires people to chase their own version of greatness.”

That idea — showing “the full picture” — quickly becomes the central thread running throughout all four episodes.

Because while millions of fans have seen Shaw lifting world-record weights and collecting titles, far fewer have seen the physical and mental cost attached to maintaining that level for so long.

The documentary doesn’t shy away from those realities.

It explores the pressure of constantly performing at the highest standard, the sacrifices required to stay competitive year after year, and the balancing act between elite competition and family life. There’s a noticeable effort throughout the series to show the human side of a figure often viewed as almost superhuman.

That perspective becomes even stronger through the involvement of Shaw’s wife, Keri Shaw, who plays a major role in the documentary.

Her contributions bring another layer to the story, shifting the focus away from trophies and toward the support system behind them. The series spends time highlighting the unseen side of success — the structure, patience, and sacrifices that happen away from the spotlight.

“People see the titles and accomplishments, but they don’t always see what happens behind the curtain,” said Keri. “This documentary shares the reality of the journey, and I’m incredibly proud of everything Brian has built.”

That dual perspective gives the series a very different tone from many sports documentaries.

It’s not solely about dominance or achievement. It becomes a story about longevity, partnership, resilience, and what it truly takes to sustain excellence in a sport where careers can be brutally unforgiving.

The documentary also expands beyond competition itself.

While Shaw’s achievements inside the arena remain central to the story, the series also explores how he has built an influence that stretches far beyond strongman contests. From business ventures to brand-building and the wider growth of strength culture, the documentary positions Shaw as more than just a former champion.

It presents him as one of the sport’s most influential modern figures.

Craig Stevenson, President of Undefined Nutrition, emphasised that impact within the series.

He said: “Brian represents everything the Shaw Strength group of companies stand for. Hard work, integrity, and consistency at the highest level. This series captures not just a champion, but a true leader who continues to elevate the entire strength community.”

That sentiment is reflected repeatedly throughout the four episodes.

Because while the numbers attached to Shaw’s career are staggering on their own, the documentary makes a strong case that his legacy goes beyond titles and records. The focus is equally on the standards he set, the professionalism he maintained, and the influence he continues to have on strength sport long after his peak competitive years.

For long-time strongman followers, the series offers insight and footage rarely seen publicly before. For newer viewers, it works as an accessible entry point into a sport that often exists outside the mainstream despite producing some of the most extreme athletic performances in the world.

And now, viewers in both the UK and Canada can finally stream it for themselves.
