Eddie Hall knows better than most what it takes to completely transform your body when the scales are carrying serious numbers.
At the peak of his Strongman powers, Hall — famously nicknamed ‘The Beast’ — weighed close to 440lbs as he bulldozed his way through the world’s strongest man scene.
But years after stepping away from elite Strongman competition, Hall proved he could reinvent himself physically too, dramatically slimming down to around 313lbs ahead of his grudge boxing clash with long-time rival Thor Björnsson in 2022.
Now, Hall is helping another heavyweight personality change his life.
And this time, it’s one of Britain’s most recognisable internet dads.
John Fisher — better known to millions online as ‘Big John’ — has built a huge following through his larger-than-life personality, outrageous Chinese takeaway orders, and his now-iconic “BOSH!” catchphrase.
But behind the viral clips and family humour, Fisher knew something had to change.
The father of heavyweight boxer Johnny Fisher reportedly weighed around 475lbs before beginning his weight loss journey, with the size of the task ahead becoming impossible to ignore.
To his credit, Fisher had already begun making progress on his own before reaching out to Hall for guidance, shedding around 44lbs independently before the former World’s Strongest Man stepped in.
What followed was a brutally honest conversation that appears to have completely changed the direction of his life.
Sharing an update on social media after nine months of progress, Fisher revealed just how serious Hall’s warning had been.
“9 months in, I have now lost 36kg [79lbs],” he recently wrote on X. “[Eddie Hall] saw me and told me I would be dead in 5 years if I didn’t change, and he saw me after I already lost 20kg.
“Under his guidance, I’m getting there just with simple basic instruction. I still have a Chinese, but just roasted meats now.”
The transformation has quickly become one of the most talked-about body changes in British combat sports circles, particularly because Fisher hasn’t attempted to completely abandon the lifestyle that made him famous online.
Instead, the approach appears to have focused on sustainability, moderation, and consistency rather than extreme dieting or impossible restrictions.
That philosophy mirrors Hall’s own evolution over the last few years.
After years of consuming staggering amounts of food to maintain Strongman size, Hall dramatically altered both his training and nutrition while transitioning into combat sports.
The result was a leaner, more mobile version of ‘The Beast’ — although still terrifyingly powerful — who successfully crossed over into boxing and MMA.
Hall most recently competed in April 2025, knocking out fellow Strongman legend Mariusz Pudzianowski to secure victory in his MMA debut.
Now attention turns back to the boxing ring.
On June 13, Hall will headline Misfits 23 in Manchester when he takes on Tommy Fury in a six-round exhibition bout featuring adjusted two-minute rounds.
Despite Hall’s sheer size and knockout power, Fury enters the fight as a significant favourite.
The younger brother of Tyson Fury remains unbeaten as a professional boxer, holding an 11-0 record that includes decision victories over both KSI and Jake Paul.
Still, Hall has never hidden from impossible challenges throughout his career.
Whether it was becoming World’s Strongest Man, deadlifting record-breaking weight, or stepping into entirely new combat sports disciplines, Hall has built his reputation on proving doubters wrong.
And while the spotlight will soon shift toward Fury in Manchester, there may already be another victory Hall considers just as important.
Helping ‘Big John’ potentially save his own life.
