Brian Shaw has delivered the news Strongman fans have been waiting for, confirming that the Shaw Classic and Strongest Man on Earth will officially return in 2027.
The four-time World’s Strongest Man winner announced that the competition will take place from August 27 to 29, with tickets on sale right now.
It marks the return of an event Shaw remains deeply passionate about after spending the past year considering its future.
“The Shaw Classic and Strongest Man on Earth is coming back in 2027,” he said.
Shaw explained that the time away had given him an opportunity to reflect on what the competition had become and, more importantly, why it was created in the first place.
He also revealed that he and Keri had been approached by several people interested in becoming involved with the event, including potentially buying into it.
“We’ve been approached by a number of different people to come in and help us run the event, to buy into the event. That led to different talks, that led to different discussions,” he said.
However, Shaw’s connection to the competition ultimately played a major role in the decision over its future.
“The truth is, what this contest means, what the Strongest Man on Earth title means, is very, very important. And I really don’t think there’s anybody that is more passionate about that than myself,” he said.
That passion stretches back to the first Shaw Classic in 2020, which Shaw created with the athletes at the centre of the competition.
During his announcement, he shared a message he received from one of the competitors from that inaugural contest.
“Just wanted to thank you, Keri, and the team behind the Shaw Classic and SMOE. The very first Shaw Classic remains my favourite competition I have competed in. Zero noise, just a competition for athletes run by an athlete. And in 2020, we really needed it. I think of it as a super pure strongman competition. Back to the essence of what the sport is about. Thank you for doing that for us,” the message read.
Shaw described the message as “very powerful” and said it represented exactly why the competition was originally created.
“It was for the athletes. It was about the purity of Strongman, to give back to the sport of strongman, to give back to the fans,” he said.
Shaw also admitted that his competitive personality had previously resulted in the team attempting to expand too quickly.
“I want bigger. I want better. I want to do more,” he said.
Now, the focus is firmly back on Strongest Man on Earth and producing the kind of brutal competition Shaw believes can determine the sport’s strongest athlete.
“I can’t wait to have a contest that truly, you know, proves and shows to the sport who the strongest man on earth is,” he said.
With the dates confirmed and tickets now available, the countdown to Strongest Man on Earth 2027 has officially begun.
